Job Title : Professor / Associate Professor – Science Education (specialization in Chemistry Education) (Re-advertisement).

Location : Mowbray Campus, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.
Job Type : Permanent.
Annual Salary Package : (incl. Medical Aid rate based on principal member only) To be confirmed.

Job Purpose
To teach undergraduate Chemistry and Chemistry Curriculum Studies. Lead the science cluster in the SPFET department and the Faculty of Education in general, conduct research and mentor others. Contribute to the faculty goals in teaching, research, community engagement / administration, and Teaching Practice. This post has been created for the purpose of raising the standard of scholarship in the field of Science Education in the Faculty. The purpose of the post is to provide academic leadership to build capacity by initiating relevant research projects, strengthening research capacity, providing mentorship to novice researchers (staff members) and supervising postgraduate students up to doctoral level. The appointee will contribute to the spectrum of academic functions including teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising students on teaching practice, curriculum development, academic administration and conducting research in the subject area of Science Education. The focus of this appointment is to strengthen postgraduate research capacity across the faculty therefore the incumbent will engage with researchers in all departments to seek opportunities for multidisciplinary projects.
