Roles and Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Execution
- Establish and maintain a structured, integrated compliance function.
- Present compliance decisions and recommendations to EXCO, IRCC, and ARC.
- Develop a compliance policy and framework aligned to the risk management framework.
- Implement a compliance risk management process in line with accepted practice.
- Ensure proactive management of regulatory compliance across the organisation.
- Drive alignment across business units to avoid silo-based risk management.
- Build a strong compliance culture through effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Establish collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders.
Operational / Process Management
Prepare compliance presentations and strategic plans for EXCO, IRCC, and ARC approval.Review and approve project scope, purpose, and compliance risk approaches.Train and supervise employees to ensure compliance objectives are met.Maintain compliance reports, review findings with management, and track corrective actions.Conduct benchmarking and implement best-practice compliance processes.Deliver regulatory compliance training for general and industry-specific requirements.Compliance Risk Management
Use a risk-based approach to design, implement, and update the regulatory universe.Monitor regulatory changes and advise the organisation.Implement a compliance monitoring programme to identify gaps and strengthen controls.Report non-compliance to senior management, EXCO, IRCC, and ARC.Lead compliance reviews, identify improvement areas, and monitor action plans.Conduct or oversee internal investigations of compliance issues.Monitor compliance systems to ensure effectiveness.Ensure regulatory policies and procedures are documented, implemented, and communicated.Collaborate with assurance providers to support internal control effectiveness.Provide compliance assurance to management and board committees.Challenge activities and decisions that materially influence compliance risk.People Management
Recruit, assign, and manage staff while overseeing development and training needs.Manage the departments performance processes and provide mentorship.Apply Labour Relations actions where required and uphold HR policies.Perform related duties and monthly / ad hoc tasks within the Enterprise Risk Management mandate.Qualifications
LLB / Admitted Attorney / CA(SA) / MBA or similar.Postgraduate or professional compliance qualification advantageous.Experience
Minimum 7+ years in legal, risk, compliance, or similar.At least 4+ years in a senior compliance managerial role within a medium / large organisation.Proven experience implementing integrated compliance programmes.Strong corporate governance understanding.Telecommunications or similar industry experience advantageous.Employment Details
