Job Purpose
The Security Manager has the overall responsibility and accountability for leading and managing the security operations (including the management of the in-house security company) for the business unit in line with regulations; legislative requirements and company standards.Key Performance Areas
Security Planning & Delivery
Understand the Group Security strategy and align objectives for the Unit’s Security deliverablesFacilitate the management and achievement of milestones of deliverablesUnderstand and integrate leading trends and technology with regards Security practicesConduct a risk analysis of the business unit areas with regard to internal and external risk and compliance managementTroubleshoots any queries / problems received by the departmentManage and allocate people and operational resourcesAlign practices with EE, SD and procurement transformation strategies which contribute towards BBBEE targets being achieved for the propertyAct as a Subject Matter Expert of issues of safety, Security for the business unitReports on the results of the function including; Monthly Financial Review reports; Risk Reports; Month end reports; FIC reportingSecurity Governance & Standards
Oversee the development and availability of Security standards and processes at a unit level – ensuring they are updated and communicatedIntegrates Group standards into Unit OperationsMonitor and align practices with new legislative compliance, gaming regulation requirements and security protocolsImplement sufficient control measures (including systems and processes) & checks within each department to mitigate any risk to the businessConduct weekly walkabouts of all functional areas, both front of house and back of house areas to monitor complianceEnsure all staff are trained and found competent against regulatory requirementsWorks with internal stakeholders to identify risk areas and address theseEnsure full compliance for events, which includes event applications, drafting of security plans and deployment of suitably trained and competent staffingEnsure full compliance of liquor licences and trading hoursInvestigations & Case Management
Quality assures investigation and audit processesAllocates cases for investigation and auditPlan audits and risk audit scheduleField investigation for high priority casesManages provision and preservation of evidence (for internal cases, CCMA and criminal)Taking ownership of investigation outcome decisions : Opening criminal cases, lodging disciplinary action or unfoundedFollows the judiciary process through until completionOversee investigations and reports to address the business exposure to riskLiaises with Head Office Legal with regard to Section 205 subpoenaCompiles and communicates handovers to ensure continuity of informationQuality assures all reports, EOB entries and registersLiaises with Internal and External customers / stakeholdersVerification and validation of all Money Laundering Reporting Officers as per the FICAPeople Leadership
Provides direction and support to management and employees with regard to surveillance, compliance and security policies, procedures, initiatives and innovationsProvides motivation and leadership to promote positive working relationships and employee relations within the departmentTrack, measure and enhance employee engagementIdentify and manage training, coaching and development requirements in line with strategic plans, e.g. skills shortages, succession plans, talent to build a solid talent pipelineManage internal communication and development interventions to ensure competence levels of staff meet operational level requirements (right fit for the job)Source and Select talent as per EE planDrive the employee value propositionPerformance Management and coaching of reporting managers to ensure KPA’s are achievedFacilitates a performance management cultureBudget management
Financial Management for the Unit Security function including :

Develops standards on the customer experience for Security in line with the unit strategy and customer value propositionDeals with escalations / complaints effectively and efficiently to resolutionBe available on the floor to interact with VIP guests when requiredEnable staff that interact with the customer telephonically or in person to provide the correct customer experience standardsMonitor the customer experience offered by the team and address gapsVendor Relationship Management
Provide input into the sourcing and negotiating of secure contracts and a SLA with the security provider for the business unitCommunicate on a regular basis and maintain the relationships with the service providerProvide support and advice to the service providers on challenges to assist in building an effective partnership for the benefit of the propertyAssist with resolving obstacles that may need to be addressed to achieve resultsManage contract deliverables and performanceMonitor costs and staffing levels relative to business levels in line with the service provider contractStakeholder Relationship Management
Informs department / staff of information required to perform the duties in the Security operations effectivelyCommunicates department’s objectives, standards and operating procedures to internal and external service providers as per SLACommunicates any special requirements to other relevant operating departmentsProvides feedback and reports back to Unit management on the critical incidents and challenges within the gaming environmentsLiaises with authorities and police with regards investigations and case managementConsult with stakeholders and provide feedback to necessary partiesProvides direction and guidance on risk management to internal stakeholdersRequirements
Education
Grade 12B Tech Degree (Security Management)Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Security management as well as managing a complex of this naturePrevious security experience is an advantageCertifications / Accreditation / Registration / LicensesPSIRA B grade certificate (preferably PSIRA grade A certificate)Work conditions and special requirements
