Overview :
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operational execution, and governance of the organisation’s technology and information systems. This includes oversight of IT infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and vendor management. The CIO ensures that technology investments align with business objectives and regulatory standards, including GS1 compliance for data integrity and supply chain interoperability. The CIO serves as a key advisor to the CEO and Executive Committee (EXCO), providing insight and leadership on digital transformation, innovation, and enterprise-wide information strategy.
Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
- Develop the IT, technology, and innovation strategy and direction of the organisation
- Design, create, and manage the organisation’s technological roadmap and digital vision
- Identify and leverage emerging technologies to drive business growth and enhance member engagement
- Lead and support the digital transformation agenda, using technology to foster innovation and agility
IT Infrastructure & Operations
Provide oversight and transparency on overall IT infrastructure and solutionsManage and maintain the organisation’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systemsImplement and maintain suitable application and software management solutionsEnsure robust cybersecurity protocols and mitigation strategies to protect member information and organizational assetsData & Analytics
Oversee the development of data analytics capabilities to enable data driven decision-makingPrioritise data management, storage, and governance to support strategic insights and business intelligenceEnsure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standardsGovernance & Compliance
Provide IT governance and ensure systems adhere to internal policies, legal requirements, and industry standardsEnsure GS1 standards are implemented across systems for product identification, barcoding, and global data synchronizationSupport integration with the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) to maintain accurate and real-time product dataVendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners to ensure value, performance, and alignment with strategic goalsNegotiate contracts and oversee service-level agreements (SLAs)Provide technical support and advisory services across departmentsCross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with internal teams to understand and support their technology needsExplore new technologies and solutions to improve business processes and operational efficiencyStay current with technological trends and advancements to inform strategic planningRequirements :
Bachelor’s degree IT / Computer Science Degree mandatoryRelated Business degree advantageousMinimum 10 years of senior IT leadership experience, including strategic planning and enterprise architecture, with a focus on not-for-profit or membership-based organisations, cross-industry experience, e.g. FMCG, Retail, PharmaCare, not-for profit-oriented organisation preferredProven experience in digital transformation, infrastructure management, and data analyticsExperience with supply chain standards and the GS1 system is a distinct advantageDemonstrated success in vendor management, cybersecurity, and cross functional leadershipProven knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem, particularly Dynamics CE / CRM, and website managementKey Competencies :
