Junior Commercial Underwriter

Key Responsibilities
- Assist underwriters in reviewing and processing insurance applications
- Prepare quotations, policy schedules, and endorsements
- Load client and policy information to the Company's operating system (Flexi / Cardinal)
- Obtain vehicle retail values
- Assist underwriters with client correspondence, including confirmations of cover and border travel letters
- File client records (physical and electronic)
- Manage documents and records
- Prepare annual renewals and policy reviews, including presentations and capturing terms on the Company's operating system (Flexi / Cardinal)
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding underwriting requirements, including risk requirements
- Maintain organised records of underwriting decisions and correspondence
- Liaise with brokers, clients, and insurers as needed
- Refer complex or high-risk cases to senior underwriters for approval
- Compile reports when required
- Provide status updates on applications and policy changes
- Prepare policy and quote comparisons and presentations
- Load new tasks and workflow entries
- Compile data for underwriting decisions or audits
- Contact potential leads and gather information
- Contact clients and manage arrears premiums when necessary
- Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of insurance processes
- Engage in continuous learning and development
- Adhere to company standard operating procedures and service level agreements
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of commercial underwriting experience in a binder broker environmentRE5 certificate, relevant NQF qualification, and CPD points requiredPrevious experience with Cardinal C360 requiredProficient in Word and ExcelLocation
