What will you do?
The ideal candidate will build out the current platform into a robust, global, and scalable operational platform that supports SAI’s ambitious growth strategy and meets rigorous due diligence standards of global institutional investors.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Operational Platform Development : Design and implement a globally ready operational platform to meet institutional investor operational due diligence, transitioning from an internally focused model to one supporting significant third‑party investments.
- Fund Establishment and Management : Oversee the creation of new funds, both in South Africa and globally, ensuring understanding of fund structures, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Service Provider Management : Optimize relationships with key third‑party service providers such as fund administrators, legal counsel, and outsourced service providers, ensuring efficient, high‑quality, cost‑effective services.
- Strategic Planning and Execution : Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to translate strategic vision into actionable operational plans and KPIs.
- Project Management : Lead and manage critical projects, driving operational enhancements and new initiatives from conception to implementation.
Operations Management
Financial and Risk Oversight : Work closely with the CFO and CRO to ensure unified budgeting, financial management, and risk oversight, implementing robust risk management frameworks.Technology and Infrastructure : Leverage and optimize technology solutions across Sanlam, ensuring the platform is secure, scalable, and aligned with SAI objectives.Change Management : Drive internal change to align operational functions with strategic goals, building collaborative relationships across teams.Investor Reporting and Integration : Standardize and enhance investor reporting to meet global best practices, ensuring seamless operational integration across governance, investor relations, and reporting.Data Governance : Oversee data governance in line with regulatory and group policy, streamline operational processes and document methods.Team Management
People Management : Build a high‑performing team, oversee talent acquisition, training, and professional development.Leadership and Mentorship : Provide strong leadership, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Performance Management : Establish clear performance metrics and conduct regular performance reviews.Experience
Minimum 10 years in a senior leadership position within the asset management industry.Demonstrable experience in establishing and scaling a global asset management platform.Proven track record in fund establishment and regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions.Expertise in managing third‑party service provider relationships.Experience in standardizing investor reporting to meet global institutional standards.Strong understanding of operational due diligence processes and requirements.Qualification
