Cost Accountant Pietermaritzburg

Our client is seeking an experienced and analytical Cost Accountant to join their professional team in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities :

• Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actuals identifying variances and providing clear explanations
• Maintain and update Work Centre rates to ensure accuracy and alignment with current operational data
• Oversee inventory valuation and ensure accurate cost allocation for raw materials labour and overhead including overtime scrap and factory efficiency monitoring
• Collaborate closely with engineering production and management teams to resolve cost discrepancies and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) as needed
• Monitor Work in Progress (WIP) and Capital Work in Progress to ensure accurate reporting and control
• Prepare monthly factory cost reports including reconciliations with daily estimated cost reports to ensure accurate financial records
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing detailed cost analyses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls and prepare supporting documentation for audits and other relevant purposes
