Lead Data Engineer – Johannesburg – R1.2mil up to R1.5mil per annum

An international client is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Engineer to join a growing Engineering team. This is a high-impact role where you''ll shape and scale our data platform to power strategic initiatives across the business. Reporting directly to the CTO, you''ll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to unlock data-driven insights that fuel decision-making and innovation. As one of the early hires in the platform team, you''ll work closely with our Platform Engineer and Head of Engineering to build the foundations of a robust, scalable data infrastructure.

Responsibilities :

• Work with the CTO, CRO and other stakeholders to build a data engineering strategy that enables the company to meet its ambitious goals
• Scale and build out our data platform (data lake, ingestion pipelines, BI and reporting platform capabilities)
• Deploy data and the data infrastructure to support projects such as CRM, personalisation and Martech innovations
• Act as a technical authority, sharing your experience to establish data best practices in our engineering and wider team
• Continually seek out and share ways to improve our processes, platform, and culture
