Description
The Private Credit Portfolio Manager will play a pivotal leadership role in the formation of RMBN AM’s private market overseeing the strategic sourcing, evaluation, execution, and management of the fund(s). This role requires an experienced professional with 10+ years of experience in private credit, including a strong background in credit analysis, financial modelling, due diligence, and deal structuring.
The Private Credit Portfolio Manager will be responsible for leading the initiatives and managing the team, collaborating closely with senior management, internal teams, and external partners to originate and execute direct investments, as well as working on partner-led investments and secondary market opportunities. Additionally, the successful candidate will play an integral part in driving the continued development and growth of the firm’s private market capabilities, ensuring high-quality execution of transactions and overseeing strategic initiatives across the firm.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following :
- Product Design : Develop and evaluate legal structures from the perspective of investor suitability, taxation and regulatory compliance
- Investment Strategy and Governance : Develop governing documents and appropriate investment strategy
- Deal Pipeline : Source and identify potential targets for investment
- Deal Structuring and Due Diligence :
Lead the structuring and due diligence efforts for all investments
Take a lead role in overseeing the comprehensive credit analysis processEvaluate financial statements, assess risk, and conduct in-depth capital structure analysisDevelop and maintain financial models for assessing investment opportunitiesFund and Investment Documentation :Lead the drafting of the requisition documentation for establishing and marketing the fund
Lead the negotiation and documentation for approved investmentStakeholder Engagement :Lead the presentation of new investments to the investing public
Provide investment update to the investment committeeBuild and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and regulatorsPortfolio Management, Monitoring and Review :Oversee and manage the performance of the investment portfolios
Provide strategic insight for portfolio optimization and ensuring the investments are performing as expected.Lead the periodic monitoring, review and reporting of the investment portfolioCapacity Building : Lead, mentor and develop a team of professionals within the teamDrive key decisions with minimal supervisionQualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field is requiredAn MBA, CFA or postgraduate qualification will be advantageousA minimum of 10+ years of experience in private credit or a similar financial services role is requiredThe candidate must have extensive experience in credit analysis, financial modelling, structuring, origination, trade execution and leadershipPrior experience working with private markets or investment banks is essentialRegistration with Nigeria’s Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Sponsored Individual isdesirableTechnical Skills
Proficient in financial modelling and valuationIn-depth knowledge of credit markets, capital structures, debt instruments and transactions structuringAbility to provide opinions and recommendations to senior management, investment committees and external stakeholders both in written and verbal presentationOutstanding communication and presentation skillsStrong organisation and project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple priorities and ensure timely, high-quality execution in a dynamic and fast-paced environmentGeneral Competencies
