Job descriptionUse appropriate tools to remove with care, the bearing box from the machine. Inspect for any signs of damage or unusual wear on the housing. Use appropriate tool to remove with care, the bearings from the bearing box. Ensure the housing is intact and not damaged during the process. Use the correct solvent to thoroughly clean the bearings. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dirt or contaminants. After cleaning, dry the bearings completely to eliminate and residual solvent. Use a micrometer or accurate measuring instrument to assess the end play of the bearings. Compare the measurements with the manufacturers specifications to determine if the bearings fall within the permissible tolerances. Replace spacer on bearings by carefully removing the old spacer, install new spacer and ensure spacer is correctly mounted. Reinstall bearings in the bearing box with care not to damage bearings or the housing and ensure bearings are correctly aligned Lubricate the bearing box by applying recommended lubricant and ensure both the bearing and housing are adequately lubricated for optimal operation. Removal of excess lubricant to prevent accumulation and contamination.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures
- Own reliable transport
- Ability to communicate, understand, read and write English
- Must be punctual (essential)
- Willing to work as per shift assignments
