Job Description
The IT Asset Coordinator supports the IT team by assisting with IT asset tracking, basic procurement coordination, and general administrative tasks. This role ensures employees have the equipment and licenses they need to work effectively and supports onboarding and offboarding processes. The ideal candidate is organised, detail oriented, willing to learn, and able to communicate well with internal staff.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Management Support
- Update and maintain IT hardware and software records in the Helpdesk system, ensuring accuracy of assigned and returned equipment.
- Tag and record IT assets and update asset registers.
- Coordinate delivery and collection of equipment for new starters, movers, and leavers.
- Capture and track equipment requests to ensure prompt allocation.
- Keep documentation for assigned and returned equipment current and complete.
- Gather and compare basic quotes from approved vendors.
- Monitor order status and provide the IT team with updates on delivery timelines.
- Tracks spend on IT assets and highlight potential cost-saving opportunities.
Reporting & Forecasting Support
Assist with preparing reports on asset usage, spend, and license status.Support lifecycle forecasting by updating spreadsheets or dashboards with upcoming asset renewals and replacements.IT Administration
Schedule and coordinate IT meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.Maintain IT documentation and assist with reporting on tickets, assets, and activities.Provide administrative support to the IT team as needed.Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
BCom, or BSc in IT, Administration, or a related field1–2-year experience in an IT support or administrative role (internships acceptable).Basic understanding of IT equipment and software.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel essential).Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Good communication skills and willingness to learn.Analytical thinking with interest in cost awareness and budget tracking.Key Attributes
