- We are looking for a an ambitious and results orientated individual to join our team as our EHS Coordinator.
- The role will report into the SHEQ Manager. The role will be based from our offices in Spartan, Kempton Park.
Purpose of the role :
The EHS Coordinator will ensure compliance with Sandvik’s Safety Policies, Procedures, Processes, and all legal requirements in terms of the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993 and its Regulations. Ensure compliance where applicable on Sandvik sites / facilities and customer sites, in terms of the Mine Health & Safety Act 29 of 1996 and its Regulations. Ensure that contractor obligations are met in terms of Sandvik’s Services Level Agreement. Develop, implement, maintain systems & processes for sustainability and continual improvement.The job responsibilities :
Safety inductions, onsite work contractor management and documents reviews.Contractor risk assessment reviews.Incident investigations.Induction of new employees throughout the yearAnnual January safety inductions, coordinating employees’ medicals and ergonomics trainingMonthly EHS facility inspections.Near misses and Hazards Management, ensuring that all reported hazards and near misses are reported, investigated and closed on EHS 360.EHS Plan monitoring and updates – Ensuring that we complete all the actions on the plan.Conducting Corrective actions on internal and external EHSQ Corrective action request.Conducting weekly Facility inspections with Managers as part of our 2025 EHS leadership goalsMonitoring that all EHS behavior's for 2025 are loaded on EHS 360 by all relevant Managers.Updating EHS 360 on all environmental data, quarterly; EHS Plan, monthly; EHS leading indicators, monthly; hazards and near misses' updates and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed.Conducting feedback meetings with employees on the outcome of the EHS Surveys and ensuring that corrective actions are put in placeConsolidating EHS Survey feedback data from employees and scheduling meetings with managers for resolutions.Quarterly Evacuation Drills - Coordinating Evacuation drills and maintaining Reports of the drillsFollow up on action plans from the quarterly management review meetingsQualifications & Experience Requirements
Completed Grade 12 CertificateSafety Management Training Course (SAMTRAC)Diploma in Environmental Management or any other related qualificationHazards Identification & Risk Assessment3+ Years experience as a safety professional in the Engineering industry.2+ Years experience in Risk Management2+ Years experience as an ISO Auditor (Advantageous)Incidents / Accidents Investigation Certification (Advantageous)Other Requirements & Competencies
Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, and resolving operational problems.Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kindsGeneral Manufacturing Company EHS rules and proceduresWorkplace EHS rules and procedures (Workplace Induction)Occupational Health and Safety Act.Basic environmental management principles.Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control.Conduct effective planned inspections.Participate in effective SHEQ meetings.Use and understand the limitations of required PPE.Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, and peers.Results orientated individual.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.Familiarity with regulatory environments (OHS Act)Highly proficient in MS office (and able to compile graphs)Good MS Outlook etiquetteStandard-ISO 9001 : 2015Environmental Standard-ISO 14001 : 2015Health and Safety Standard-45001 : 2018Security / Safety jobs
