Head Of Cloud Operations

AnywhereNow is looking for a Head of Cloud Operations who thrives in complexity, leads with clarity, and brings a strategic yet hands-on approach to cloud infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining and executing our global cloud operations strategy, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across our Microsoft Azure environments.

You’ll lead and mentor the cloud operations team, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive operational excellence through automation and data-driven decision-making. Your ability to think systemically, anticipate future needs, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders will be key to your success.

As theHead of Cloud Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and growth of our SaaS business on the Microsoft Azure platform. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of our cloud infrastructure, optimizing performance, and driving operational excellence. This is a global role and you will report into the COO and will work closely with the Global Support Manager, Manager Professional Services, your own Cloud Ops team and other operational departments (Cloud Infra, Product, Sales and Development).

Key Responsibilities

Provide (technical) leadership and mentorship to cloud engineering teams : lead by example;

Responsible for defining the cloud operations strategy and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud strategy, architecture and best practices;

Continuously monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization, all while implementing cost-effective solutions that maintain high availability;

Ensuring the design, development and implementation of highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure;

Work closely with Azure service providers and vendors to negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and ensure service-level agreements(SLAs) are met;

Optimize performance and drive operational excellence by identifying areas for process improvement and automation within cloud operations;

Responsible for overseeing, managing, and administering Microsoft Azure cloud environment at AnywhereNow and for implementing security measures within Azure in order to comply with industry standards, data privacy regulations, and security protocols.

Be overall responsible for the customer experience and sentiment related to the provision of cloud services. Focus on prevention where possible and fast high quality reactive services where not.

Co-manage Azure FinOps with Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps teams.

Competencies are key, but to be successful in this role you need to bring a few essentials to kickstart the conversation :

Proven experience with managing, motivating, mentoring, and guiding technical staff to ensure professionalizing within a fast growing company;

Cloud strategy alignment : has aligned cloud adaptation with business goals previously, and is able to articulate to (non-technical) stakeholders how cloud technologies contribute to organizational success;

Proven experience in effectively communicating with business leaders, cross-functional teams, external partners and customers;

Expert in ITIL process management and has proven experience in identifying and defining global uniform process, while being responsible for continuous improvement;

Understanding of tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure Pipelines for managing infrastructure. Understanding of networking (Azure networking services, incl. virtual networks, subnets, load balancers and DNS configurations);

Azure cloud expertise : understands how to create, manage, and optimize Azure resources using tools like Azure CLI, Azure Portal, and Azure Resource Management (ARM) templates and has knowledge of Azure security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance;

Previously optimized resource usage while managing costs and ensuring high availability with cloud.
