Job descriptionAudit and reconcile all financial lease considerations including service charges, insurance recharges, base rent, turnover rent, utilities, deposits, and allowances. Analyze expenses and build standardised checklists and variance worksheets to assess discrepancies. Maintain records of audits, tracking status, client communications, outstanding matters, revenue leakage, and cost savings. Interpret commercial lease provisions related to landlords’ rights to pass through expenses to tenants. Apply key lease concepts such as proportionate shares, management and administrative fees, and caps. Engage with landlord representatives to request supporting documentation for annual statements. Troubleshoot and resolve disputes through lease language analysis and strategic discussions. Prepare and manage reports, including lease master audit savings and cost mitigation reports. Collaborate with third‑party auditors on lease audit projects as required. Must work UK hours and South African public holidays (UK bank holidays). 3‑5 years experience in a leasing / audit environment with strong knowledge of commercial lease agreements. Excellent understanding of lease expense allocations, service charges, and cost‑sharing provisions. Experience analysing lease documents and applying relevant provisions to disputes. Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills with landlords and property managers. Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple audits and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Proficient in MS Excel and Office suite (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP). Experience in an international leasing environment is desirable. Previous experience in lease auditing, real‑estate finance, property management or lease administration. Familiarity with UK and European property regulations and lease structures. Experience with corporate clients managing large property portfolios. Qualified accountant. Join MRI Software as a Lease Auditor (UK Hours) in our Cape Town office, working 10 : 00-18 : 30 SA time. The role supports the UK region with 3 days working from home per week.
Position Overview
The Lease Auditor will audit and reconcile financial and data considerations related to lease agreements, ensuring compliance for investors, residential, and occupier perspectives. A strong understanding of commercial and residential lease language, expense allocations, and financial analysis is required to support revenue assurance and savings for clients. The role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including landlords, legal teams, and third‑party auditors, and administers lease administration and special projects as required.

Data Audit & Validation
- Validate and reconcile lease data between internal records and client lease management systems.
- Conduct comprehensive validation of lease clauses, options, and rent tables.
- Check key lease data points such as start / end dates, space details, option dates, indexation and rent review dates.
- Identify discrepancies, document issues, and coordinate resolution.
- Maintain detailed audit reports of findings and reconciliation status.
