Role Overview
The Lodge Manager will be responsible for overseeing all lodge operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences, effective team management, and seamless day-to-day functioning of a 5-star safari lodge. This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a remote and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership : Manage, mentor, and motivate staff to uphold company values, performance standards, and service excellence.
Guest Experience : Ensure a world-class guest journey, maintaining consistently high service standards and personal engagement with guests.
Communication : Maintain effective communication with team members, management, and support departments for smooth operations.
Operational Oversight : Supervise daily lodge operations, including housekeeping, food & beverage, front of house, and back-of-house functions.
Health & Safety : Oversee compliance with health, safety, and security standards in line with company SOPs.
Budget & Finance : Manage budgets, control costs, and implement financial systems in collaboration with head office.
Strategic Planning : Anticipate operational needs, coordinate with other departments, and ensure preparedness for seasonal demands.
Maintenance : Oversee upkeep of lodge facilities and infrastructure, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
Problem-Solving : Respond promptly to challenges, resolving operational or guest-related issues effectively.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years’ management experience in a luxury safari lodge or similar high-end hospitality environment.
Professional, well-presented, and mature demeanor.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Solid understanding of guest service excellence and luxury hospitality standards.
Knowledge of wine, food, and fine dining service.
Strong organisational, multitasking, and time management skills.
Demonstrated experience in staff management, labour relations, and working with unions (advantageous).
Practical knowledge of lodge maintenance and operational support.
Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
South African citizen or holder of a valid work permit.
