Job Description
To apply analytical, statistical and mathematical skills to analyse data in order to assist with solving of business and financial problems (particularly those involving risk). This entails calculating the probability of and costs associated with certain events, such as product failure, accidents, property damage, injury, and death. The results are used to design and price insurance policies, investment plans, pension plans and other financial instruments.
To assist with the full implementation of IFRS 17 within SIL. In particular, to assist with the data preparation and transformation for IFRS 17 purposes. To perform monthly calculations of IFRS 17. To perform investigations relating to IFRS 17 reports.
Qualifications
Type of Qualification : First Degree
Field of Study : BSc or BCom with actuarial majors- Honours is an advantage
Member of Actuarial Society of South Africa / Member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
At least 6 exemptions / actuarial exam passes
Experience Required
3 - 6 years’ actuarial experience. IFRS 17 experience preferred. Experience with data is preferred. Experience in the short-term insurance is preferred. Capital modelling and reserving experience is preferred.
