Role Overview
We're looking for a dynamic Pre-Sales Engineer to support the sales team in positioning and demonstrating software solutions focused on Payroll, HR, Time & Attendance, and related compliance systems . You will act as the technical expert during the sales process understanding client needs, mapping them to the product features, and conducting impactful demos and presentations.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with sales team to understand prospect requirements and craft tailored software solutions
Conduct client discovery meetings, needs analysis, and technical qualification
Deliver compelling product demos (in person or virtually)
Provide input on proposals, RFPs / RFIs, and solution designs
Address client queries on system architecture, functionality, integrations, and compliance
Build solution documentation, configuration templates, and demonstration environments
Stay up to date with the latest in HR / payroll regulations and software functionality
Collaborate with the implementation and technical support teams for handover post-sale
Occasionally attend trade shows, events, and customer roadshows
Minimum Requirements
2+ years experience in a pre-sales, technical sales, or consulting role (preferably in software or HR / payroll systems)
Strong understanding of HRIS, payroll software, time & attendance, or workforce management platforms
Technically savvy, with the ability to bridge business and IT stakeholders
Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
Comfortable conducting product demos and handling objections
Own vehicle and valid drivers license (travel to client sites required)
Residing in or around Pretoria
Desirable Skills / Nice to Have
Background in HR, payroll, or labour legislation
Experience with platforms such as Sage, SimplePay, or similar
Knowledge of systems integration (APIs, data imports / exports)
Familiarity with cloud-based SaaS platforms
Ability to work in a fast-paced, B2B sales environment
