It has manufacturing facilities in India, South Africa, Australia, and Chile, and exports its products and solutions to over 70 countries.About the RoleEnsure availability of production equipment and arrange for building maintenance and repairs as required.Daily interaction with Production Manager, Industrial Foreman and Mining Foreman on equipment maintenance and repairs; As required interaction with HODs on maintenance and repairs of buildings; Manager Operations as required on installation and commissioning of new equipment; Buyer on procurement of materials and external service providers; Tool Room Supervisor as required on component fabrication needed for equipment repairs.Maintenance and Repair Suppliers as required; Equipment suppliers as required for the installation and commissioning of new equipment.Key Responsibilities PlanningPreparation of preventative maintenance schedules for all production equipment; planning of repairs to ensure lowest possible downtime of equipment; allocation of work to Maintenance Supervisor and outsourcing of work that cannot be done in houseRequisitions for materials and suppliers to carry out maintenance and repairsDiscuss work allocation and work in progress with Supervisor daily to ensure optimum equipment utilisationMaintain history files on all equipment for preventive maintenance planning and critical spares holdingInstallation and commissioning of new equipmentPerform all activities on SAP PM moduleWork towards zero breakdown and production loss due to equipmentExecuting all improvement projectsMaterials ManagementEnsure correct materials and quantities are in place for work, ensure most efficient use of materials, inspect quality before useUpgrade critical list of equipment and spares parts for each equipment and ensure availabilityLabour and Contractor ManagementIn conjunction with Maintenance Supervisor ensure sufficient skilled personnel to carry out maintenance and repair tasksEnsure compliance with legal requirements, Labour recruitment for Maintenance Department and enforce discipline in terms of company proceduresIn conjunction with OHS Coordinator control all contractor activities and ensure compliance with all legal and company requirementsEquipment and ConsumablesMaintain all equipment in good condition and ensure no persons other than qualified maintenance personnel have access to such equipmentMaintain sufficient consumables to ensure no delay in maintenance and repair tasksEnsure monthly stock take is doneReporting and CommunicationAttend weekly communication and monthly management review and OHS meetingsDiscuss preventive maintenance schedule with production HODs to ensure minimum production downtimeProvide the Manager Operations monthly with equipment utilization figuresSHEQ ResponsibilitiesEnsure all employees comply fully with Section 14 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act : General duties of employees at workIt is your responsibility to ensure that you and your subordinates are familiar with the above section.
