Job descriptionInterview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, participate in departmental audit activates, preparing and writing of reports, communication services and community liaison. Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors). Willing to work longer hours. Attend relevant administrative meeting like mortality meetings, near miss meeting and completing MEDICO Legal Documents timeously (e.g. Death certificate). Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary team to the management of patients. Perform practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures and ward rounds. Ensure effective administration and safe record in the department. Willing to work after hours (night, weekend and public holiday) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Responsible for rendering of clinical services, assessment and treatment of patients, Registrars will be rotated through related departments at various hospitals, comprising hospitals served in their specific outreach programmes. Personnel Suitability Checks (criminal checks, citizenship checks, qualification verification, company directorship, social media, financial record checks, reference checks) must be conducted prior appointment. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions. Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals. Requirements
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025 / 2026. Must have Diploma / Part 1 in relevant department. Attendance of relevant courses and working experience in the relevant department will be an added advantage.
