MEDICAL REGISTRAR - ANAESTHETICS

Requirements

Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner andmust have completed Community Service. Current registration with the HPCSA for 2025 / 2026. Must have a Diploma in Anaesthesia and complete FCA 1. Must have at least 6 months experience as Medical Officer in a relevant academic setting / department.

Duties

The incumbent will interview, investigate, diagnose and oversee the treatment of patient related administrative duties; participate in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research; participate in departmental audit activities and prepare reports. Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns and community service doctors). Willing to work longer hours (night, weekends and public holidays) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients. Attend relevant departmental meetings like morbidity and mortality, near miss and complete medico-legal documents timeously. Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care. Reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos. Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards. Perform practical procedures relevant to anaesthesia. Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, casepresentations, and lectures.

The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
