Requirements
An appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner, HPCSA registration as an Independent Medical Practitioner and must have completed Community Service. Current registration with HPCSA for 2025 / 2026. Must have FCPaed Part 1. Exposure as Medical Officer in a training institution in a relevant department or outside the training institutions in a relevant department will be an added advantage.Duties
Interview, investigate, diagnose, and oversee the treatment of patients, related administrative duties, participating in all activities of the discipline in relation to teaching and research, and participate in departmental audit activities.Prepare and write reports, provide communication services and community liaison. Supervise junior doctors (undergraduate students, interns, and community service doctors).Willing to work longer hours and attend relevant administrative meetings such as mortality meetings and near-miss meetings; complete medico-legal documents timeously (e.g., death certificates).Improve quality of care by providing appropriate clinical care; reduce medical litigation by exercising good clinical ethos.Implement and monitor adherence to National Core Standards (norms and standards). Participate in multidisciplinary teams to manage patients.Perform practical procedures relevant to the care of patients. Participate in departmental meetings, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, and ward rounds.Ensure effective administration and record keeping in the department. Registrars will render clinical services, assess and treat patients, and rotate through related departments at various hospitals as part of outreach programmes.Willing to work longer hours (night, weekend, and public holidays) to provide continuous uninterrupted care of patients.Notes
