Job descriptionPerform duties according to guidelines from the department of Urology of the University of Witwatersrand. Render a full spectrum of Urology inpatient and Outpatient services. Provide clinical guidance to designated clinic staff. Perform department administrative duties, and post graduate students. Initiate and participate in clinical research. Render after-hours clinical services. Progression through the registrar programme including rotation through other teaching hospitals on the Wits Urology training circuit is expected. These positions will be joint appointments between the Gauteng Department of Health and the following academic institutions : University of Witwatersrand / University of Pretoria and / Sefako Makgatho University. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Applicants with foreign qualifications remain responsible for ensuring that their qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions. Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals. Requirements
- An appropriate qualification that allows registration as an Independent Practitioner. No experience required after registration as a Medical Registrar. Must have completed Post Community Service. Registration with HPCSA for the financial year 2025 / 26. Registrars will be rotated between institutions. The following will be an added advantage : Work experience in the field of Medical Practitioner; CMSA part 1 examinations; auxiliary courses relevant to the field of Medical Practitioner. Ability to lead standardization of care inspirational to the health care team. Ability to lead a team of health care professionals with integrity and respect. Commitment to organizational values and vision. Dedication to patient safety and quality of health care. Track record of fostering teamwork and collaboration among physicians. Excellent interpersonal skills.
