Our client, a busy private dental practice in Upper Claremont, is seeking to appoint an experienced Medical Receptionist . Previous experience working in a medical or dental environment is essential – please only apply if you meet this requirement.
You’ll be the first point of contact for patients and will manage a high patient volume with professionalism, compassion, and efficiency. This is a fast-paced, frontline role combining reception and administrative duties, including handling patient payments.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and assist patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
Manage a busy switchboard, incoming calls, and patient inquiries
Schedule and coordinate appointments to ensure smooth patient flow
Create, update, and maintain accurate patient files and records
Handle cash and card payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily takings
Assist patients with completing forms and documentation
Maintain a neat, organized, and welcoming reception area
Protect the confidentiality of all patient, staff, and doctor information
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday : 7 : 30 am – 5 : 00 pm
Friday : 8 : 00 am – 4 : 00 pm
Requirements
Matric (Grade 12)
Proven experience in a medical or dental reception / secretary role (essential)
Experience handling cash transactions and reconciliations (essential)
Strong administrative and organizational skills
Computer literate (MS Office, Excel)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Afrikaans)
