Job Summary
Houston Skilled Consultancy is hiring passionate and skilled Cruise Line Chefs / Cooks to work aboard luxury cruise ships operating across scenic European routes. This exciting opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and possess the ability to prepare diverse global cuisines. As a Cruise Chef, you will be part of an international culinary team serving gourmet meals to thousands of guests, ensuring top-quality dining experiences at sea.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with menu plans and high culinary standards, covering a variety of global cuisines including Continental, Indian, Asian, Italian, and Mediterranean.
Maintain kitchen hygiene, food safety protocols, and cleanliness as per cruise line health standards.
Collaborate with Sous Chefs and Executive Chefs to plan daily meal preparation and food presentation.
Ensure timely food preparation during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service for both passengers and crew.
Monitor stock levels and report food supply requirements to inventory staff.
Train and guide junior kitchen staff and stewards when required.
Adapt recipes and menu items based on guest preferences, dietary requirements, and special occasions.
Maintain temperature logs, food safety records, and kitchen equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or related field.
Excellent knife skills and mastery in preparation, cooking, and presentation of various cuisines.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Knowledge of international kitchen operations and cruise food standards.
Team-oriented attitude with flexibility to work across different kitchen stations.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in a high-volume setting.
Experience
Minimum 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a high-end hotel, restaurant, or cruise ship kitchen.
Multi-cuisine exposure (Indian, Continental, Asian, Mediterranean, etc.) is highly preferred .
Prior shipboard experience or knowledge of galley operations is a strong advantage.
Working Hours
10–12 hours daily, based on shifts (split duty or straight shift).
6-day working schedule with 1 day off per week (on rotation).
Contract-based employment ranging from 6 to 9 months onboard.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures (HACCP).
Menu planning and inventory control.
Creativity in plating and presentation.
Adaptability to different cuisines, guest expectations, and dietary restrictions.
Ability to multitask and manage pressure during peak meal times.
Strong verbal communication in English.
