Under the direction of the RN circulator and according to Medicare Conditions of Participation for surgical services, assists surgical teams during operative procedures. Responsibilities include arranging sterile setups, assisting with patient positioning, performing sterile scrub procedures, passing instruments and supplies, and participating in operating room turnover.

II. Major Responsibilities :

• Demonstrates proficiency in the scrub role across assigned specialties, promoting teamwork and precepting co-workers.
• Prepares the Operating Room for cases, checking case carts and supplies.
• Anticipates and requests special equipment and supplies, sets up instruments, and performs surgical counts.
• Responds to the needs of the surgical team, recognizing emergencies and utilizing OR equipment effectively.
• Tracks instruments and supplies, labels medications, monitors sponges and needles, and cares for specimens to ensure safety and accuracy.
