What You’ll Do
Come join our dynamic Legal team. The successful candidate will be a part of the EMEA legal team, that provides legal support for employment matters, commercial transactions, procurement and real estate, in a way that drives both improved risk-mitigation and efficiency.The role requires close collaboration with senior management in the EMEA region, as well as senior lawyers across the globe, sales and operational teams, as well as third parties as needed.This position will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel- EMEA and will work very closely with the Chief Counsel-EMEA. This is a great opportunity for an in-house counsel who wishes to develop on their broad-based in-house experience, or their employment law experience. The role is based in Cape Town and will have scope for hybrid working.Responsibilities :
Advising on employment matters; labour litigation strategy and handling (including CCMA matters) and representing the company as needed.Advising the company on corporate, data privacy and other legal matters as needed.Assisting with compliance training, enforcement and investigations.Reviewing and negotiating technology and services agreements and related statements of work, change orders and other documents, as well as a variety of other commercial documents such as agreements of confidentiality, data processing, professional services and licensing and software-related agreements, and their renewals and amendments;Developing relationships with key internal clients and functions.Skills and competencies :
LLB and admission as an attorney or advocate in South Africa.You must have at least 4 years of experience in-house or at a law firm, and Strong knowledge of South African labour and privacy law (preferably with some focus on corporate and commercial law).Experience with reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and / or company secretarial matters is a plus.You must be a strong team-player.We value integrity, judgement, and the ability to give practical advice appropriately weighing legal and business objectives.We are looking for critical thinking and problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.You will be expected to focus on South Africa but also bring your knowledge and experience to other jurisdictions (in Africa / elsewhere in EMEA). Exposure to legal frameworks outside of South Africa, through education or experience elsewhere in Africa or in Europe will be a major plus point.Law / Legal jobs
