The Role Purpose
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive responsible for overseeing and managing the financial health and strategy of the organization. The CFO's primary role is to ensure the company's financial stability and long-term growth by providing strategic leadership on financial matters, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management. The CFO works closely with the CEO, board of directors, and other members of the executive team to align financial strategies with the overall business objectives. The CFO manages relationships with external stakeholders such as investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Planning : Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives; monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans; develop financial and tax strategies; manage the capital request and budgeting processes; develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company's strategic direction.
- Operations : Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team; maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team; manage the accounting, SCM, legal, tax, IT and treasury departments; oversee the financial operations of foreign operations; oversee the company's transaction processing systems; implement operational best practices; supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions.
- Financial Information : Oversee the issuance of financial information; report financial results to the board of directors; monthly financial reporting; weekly cash flow reporting.
- Risk Management : Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile; monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry; construct and monitor reliable control systems; maintain appropriate insurance coverage; ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements; ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies; report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors; maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
- Funding and Investment : Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts; arrange for debt financing and equity financing; decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity.
Qualifications and Experience
CA (SA) with 8-10 years post articles experience; 6 years post articles experience within a tech industry is a must.At least 4 years' experience leading a finance team.Knowledge : Supply Chain; Finance reporting and governance; Software Industry.Strong commercial acumen.Skills
