Overview
County Fair, a division of Astral Operations Limited, has an opportunity for a seasoned Maintenance Manager based at the Abattoir in Klipheuwel in the Western Cape. The overall purpose of the Maintenance Manager role is to coordinate, coach and control the activities of maintenance teams in the production and process environment and to provide specialist technical advice to ensure maximum equipment availability. This includes managing all aspects of the maintenance department (mechanical and electrical) including the Engineering Store. The incumbent must understand the Occupational Health and Safety Act and be willing to accept general machinery regulations 2.7 legal appointment.
Responsibilities
Administration
- Co-ordinate maintenance activities
- Execute the maintenance plan
- Manage maintenance department costs
- Ensure engineering spares availability
- Control all overtime worked in the maintenance department
- Co-ordinate annual leave rosters and manage leave for the department, with support from the Maintenance Planner, Foremen and Supervisors
- Coordinate skills training for the maintenance team
- Compile daily utilities, electricity and water usage report
- Be the 20 Keys management system Facilitator
Maintenance

Must have completed Mechanical or Electrical qualification (N6 / National Diploma / BTech / Bsc Engineering)Must be a qualified Artisan in the Engineering trade; preferably mechanicalAt least 5 years relevant experience at managerial / supervisory levelAt least 5 years relevant poultry / abattoir experienceMust be computer literate, and have experience with MS OfficeHave knowledge in planned & preventative maintenance programKeep updated with trends and new developments of HACCP, 20 keys and maintenance programmesAbility to solve problems related to HACCP and 20 keysHighly aware of safety, health and hygiene stipulations and very cautious to reduce errorsOther Requirements
