Network Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls).
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
• Ensure effective inventory controls are kept of networking equipment.
• Procure network equipment and manage subcontractors involved with network installation.
• Ensure that all equipment is fully functional and update documentation as required.
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
• Adhere to company and department policies and procedures.
• After hours standby on a rotational basis.
• 2nd line data and voice downtime troubleshooting and support.
• Provide support to the 1st line helpdesk support team to manage all telco related data and voice troubleshooting and support.
• Escalate any issues that cannot or are not resolved timeously to 3rd line support / vendor and follow up with them on the progress and resolution of these issues.
• Ensure that all issues resolved are well documented and if required update both the 1st line and 3rd line support structures and the standard procedures manual.
• Support Network team with support functionality and training of users on VOIP phones system.
