Purpose of the Role
The Human Capital Business Partner (HCBP) plays a pivotal role in supporting the Business Unit, Region, or Country Leader(s) across the annual people calendar. This role is designed for a fully-fledged HCBP who acts as a strategic and trusted advisor to the business, with the ability to translate Human Capital (HC) strategies into impactful business outcomes. The HCBP is responsible for delivering HC solutions aligned with the Line of Service (LOS) strategy and the broader Africa People Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- HC Strategy : Align with Global, Africa, and LOS People Strategies by developing a tailored people strategy in consultation with leadership.
- Execute and track progress against the HC strategy using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and performance metrics.
- Drive the implementation of strategic HC projects in line with the HC calendar and business needs.
- Provide monthly reporting on initiative delivery using automated dashboards and analytics.
- Business Partnering & Change Management : Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, offering strategic guidance on people-related matters.
- Lead and support change management initiatives, helping teams navigate transitions and organizational shifts.
- Translate HC initiatives into business-enabling actions that support long-term strategic goals.
- Insights & Data Analytics : Analyze people-related data to identify trends and provide actionable insights using tools such as Power BI, Excel (advanced), SQL, and Alteryx.
- Use predictive analytics and scenario modeling to advise leadership on workforce planning and optimization.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards for real-time reporting and decision support.
- HC Service Delivery – Employee Lifecycle : Ensure accurate and consistent management of the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to exit.
- Coordinate HC delivery across business areas, ensuring data integrity and system optimization.
- Track lifecycle metrics and oversee HC projects using project management and data tracking tools.
- Employee Relations : Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, supported by case tracking and documentation systems.
- Foster a positive employee experience and ensure compliance with labor practices and internal policies.
- Talent & Performance Management : Drive talent identification, succession planning, and development initiatives using data-driven insights.
- Monitor performance trends and implement targeted interventions to improve individual and team outcomes.
- Remuneration & Workforce Planning : Analyze compensation trends and provide input into people budgets, including salary band modeling and cost analysis.
- Align workforce planning with LOS headcount budgets using forecasting and modeling tools.
- Leadership & Capability Building : Mentor and develop the HCBP team, enhancing digital literacy and data fluency.
- Contribute to HC best practices and communicate insights to leadership for strategic decision-making.
- Employment Equity & Retention : Track and report on Employment Equity (EE) targets and implement corrective actions where needed.
- Analyze Global People Survey results and lead the development of action plans to improve engagement and retention.
- Terminations : Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends using qualitative and quantitative tools.
- Use insights to inform retention strategies and improve employee experience.
- Other Ad Hoc Responsibilities : Oversee operational processes with a focus on digital optimization and automation.
- Represent HC in forums and contribute to group meetings with data-backed insights.
Key Competencies and Attributes
Strong business partnering skills with a proven ability to translate HC strategy into business outcomes.Advanced data analysis, visualization, and reporting skills (Power BI, Excel, SQL; Alteryx advantageous).Experience in managing complex projects and digital tools.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially at the executive level.Digitally fluent and experienced with HRIS systems and analytics platforms.Qualifications & Experience
