Family Support Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Family Support Officer to provide crucial assistance to families in need within the Benoni community. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and assessments to understand family dynamics and specific needs.
• Develop and implement tailored support plans in collaboration with families.
• Provide counseling and emotional support to family members, addressing issues such as parenting skills, conflict resolution, and stress management.
• Connect families with relevant community services, such as educational, health, and financial assistance programs.
• Facilitate family group sessions and workshops on topics relevant to family well-being.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case files, documenting interventions and progress.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Previous experience working directly with families in a support or counseling capacity.
• Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and crisis intervention techniques.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and empathic skills.
• Ability to build rapport and trust with families from diverse backgrounds in Benoni .
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for home visits.
