Maintenance Technician - Remote Support

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to provide remote support for their manufacturing facilities, including operations near Port Elizabeth . This role involves offering expert technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance to on-site maintenance teams via remote communication channels. You will diagnose equipment issues, provide step-by-step instructions for repairs and preventative maintenance, and help optimize maintenance schedules. The ideal candidate is a seasoned technician who can effectively guide others and solve complex mechanical and electrical problems from a distance, contributing significantly to minimizing downtime across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical and electrical equipment failures.
• Guide on-site technicians through complex repair procedures and diagnostic processes.
• Review maintenance logs and performance data to recommend preventative maintenance strategies.
• Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment maintenance.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and propose long-term solutions or upgrades.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing setting, with expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical instructions remotely.
• Familiarity with various types of industrial machinery and control systems.
• Proficiency in using remote communication tools and potentially remote access software.
