Senior HSE Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior HSE Engineer to lead health, safety, and environmental initiatives for their operations in Benoni . This role is paramount in ensuring that all activities within the oil and gas sector are conducted in compliance with the highest safety standards and environmental regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a robust safety culture across the organization in the Gauteng region. Your expertise will be vital in preventing incidents and ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems.


• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.


• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.


• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors.


• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international HSE legislation and industry standards.


• Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.


• Minimum of 7 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within the oil and gas industry .


• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OHSAS/ISO 45001 lead auditor are highly desirable.


• Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management systems.


• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, regulations, and best practices.


• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
