- Effective Management of Metallurgical Operations
- Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and reporting on excellence in the technical and operational aspects of the metallurgy and surface operations.
- Function as a key technical resource within the surface operations and metallurgy to establish sound reporting formats at the various levels in the operations that highlights key performance indicators versus plan at the correct level of detail for each level in the organisation
- Responsible for improving the metallurgical accounting standards to align to the Amira code for Metallurgical accounting as applicable to the operations. Implement standards and consistency in definition and understanding of plant metallurgical and cost accounting data within the current operational review process
- Develop and manage a group benchmarking process and establish it as a value adding process to install group best practice across all process steps as applicable in each operation
- Develop and manage a technical information system that details all the key design criteria of the metallurgical plants within Gold Operations.
- Co-ordinate the business planning process for surface operations along with the Metallurgical teams from each Business unit and the Surface MRM department
- Align the Plant Strategy with the Business Strategic intent of the Organization to achieve life of mine plan.
- Actively liaise, consult, involve, participate and co-operate with Mining Units, Service departments and other relevant Stakeholders.
- Take full responsibility for the technical guidance and operational effectiveness of metallurgical training and development in the surface operations.
- Responsible for continuous business transformation and process improvement within Gold operations
- Conducts regular audits of the application of Metallurgical standards, strategic and operational plans.
- Drive the review and implementation of latest developments, innovations and technologies focused on Metallurgy.
- Develop and implement all mandatory codes of practice as set out in the plant operational standards and procedures.
- Co-ordinate internal ICMI compliance audits and ensure that internal standards for the cyanide management processes in the plants comply with the ICMI code. Stakeholder Relations
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally.
- Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.
- Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers.
- Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable.
- Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes. Financial Management
- Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives. Working Cost Budgets:
- Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives.
- Approving operational expenditure.
- Formulating monthly and annual budgets. Cost Savings:
- Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.
- Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations.
Additional Requirements
- Chrome experience is adventageous
- NQF 8 (Post graduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification Degree) Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering would be advantageous
