About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and analytical Retail Category Manager to drive performance for key product categories within their Benoni operations. This role involves developing and executing category strategies, managing product assortments, optimizing pricing, and ensuring profitable growth. You will leverage market insights, sales data, and consumer trends to make informed decisions that enhance the customer shopping experience and meet business objectives. This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional within the retail sector, requiring a deep understanding of product lifecycle management and category P&L.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies to achieve sales and profit targets.
• Manage product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities for assigned retail categories.
• Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor performance to identify growth opportunities.
• Source and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and product availability.
• Collaborate with marketing, merchandising, and operations teams to execute category plans.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage product lifecycle, including introductions and discontinuations.
• Present category performance reviews and strategic recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in retail category management or a similar role.
• Proven track record of driving sales and profitability within specific product categories.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in retail data analysis tools.
• Excellent understanding of consumer behavior and market dynamics.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
