Remote Agricultural Extension Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Remote Agricultural Extension Officer to support farming communities across various regions. This role is dedicated to providing farmers with vital information, technical advice, and training on modern agricultural practices, sustainable farming techniques, and access to resources, all delivered remotely. You will be instrumental in enhancing farmer knowledge, improving crop yields, and promoting economic development within the agricultural sector. The ideal candidate is passionate about agriculture, an excellent communicator, and adept at using digital platforms to deliver educational content and support. This is a crucial role for fostering agricultural growth and resilience in underserved areas, working from a remote location.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver educational content, workshops, and advisory services to farmers via online platforms (webinars, video calls, email, phone).
• Provide technical guidance on crop management, soil health, pest and disease control, and the adoption of new technologies.
• Facilitate farmer-to-farmer learning networks and knowledge sharing initiatives.
• Assist farmers in accessing agricultural information, market linkages, government programs, and financial resources.
• Collect feedback from farmers on their needs and challenges to inform program development and service delivery.
• Stay informed about current agricultural research, policies, and best practices to provide up-to-date advice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Rural Development, or a related field.
• Proven experience in agricultural extension services, community development, or a related advisory role.
• Excellent knowledge of crop production, sustainable agriculture, and farm management practices.
• Strong digital literacy and experience using online communication and educational tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.).
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated and able to manage workload effectively in a remote work environment.
