Telecom Field Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a practical and adaptable Telecom Field Engineer to join their team serving the Benoni area. This role involves hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and infrastructure at customer sites and network points. You will be crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of services delivered, working directly with clients and resolving technical challenges in the field. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission telecommunications hardware, including base stations, antennas, and transmission equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative checks on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and repair network faults, ensuring timely restoration of services.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments for new installations or upgrades.
• Manage inventory of equipment and tools used in the field, ensuring proper maintenance and tracking.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures and company policies while performing duties on-site.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or certification in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a Field Engineer, Telecom Technician, or in a similar hands-on role.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and test equipment relevant to telecommunications.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel within the assigned region.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and team members.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends as required.
