Senior Process Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote position, ideal for a professional seeking autonomy and the ability to contribute from anywhere in South Africa. You will play a critical role in the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems within various industrial processes. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our client's operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop process equipment and systems, ensuring adherence to safety, efficiency, and regulatory standards .
• Perform detailed mechanical calculations , simulations, and analyses to validate designs and optimize performance.
• Develop P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and equipment specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in existing process systems, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to ensure timely project completion and budget adherence.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in process mechanical engineering , with a focus on industrial equipment and systems.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and CAD tools for equipment design.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and material properties.
• Proven experience in project management and leading engineering teams.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges in a remote setting.
