About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to maintain and repair their diverse fleet of airport ground support vehicles and equipment in Benoni . This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of airport services, including baggage handling, aircraft towing, and passenger transportation. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a wide range of GSE. The ideal candidate possesses strong diagnostic skills, a hands‑on approach, and a commitment to maintaining equipment to the highest operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventive repairs on all types of ground support equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace worn or faulty components, ensuring all work is performed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities in the equipment logbook.
- Ensure all GSE is kept in safe working order, compliant with company standards and regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanic , preferably with a focus on heavy equipment or automotive repair.
- Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines , hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools effectively.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for equipment maintenance and operation.
- Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.
