Snr Electrical Engineer

The primary function would be to design MV and LV electrical systems mainly for the mining industry. Must assume responsibility, be willing to propose possible solutions within a process, work on multiple projects simultaneously, and show inventiveness in the technology space.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BSc / BEng / BTech Electrical
• Registered as Professional Engineer or Technician (Pr Tech Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). Registered candidate optional
• Able to obtain a medical certificate of fitness
• Willing to travel, no criminal record, valid passport, and must hold a valid driver’s license

EXPERIENCE:

• 7 years’ relevant working experience in the mining industry with a proven track record in engineering and commissioning
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations
• Brownfields and Greenfields project execution experience
• Ability to work across disciplines, have excellent communication skills and work well with others
• Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing, controlling, coordinating, and directing engineering activities
• ETAP capability optional

- LV Electrical Systems
- MV Electrical Systems

• Appropriate application of client & regional standards/ specifications
• Configuration and fault finding of LV & MV installations
• Functional checking and quality control of installed equipment
• Client training & handover
• Recommendations based on Technical and commercial evaluation of vendors/ contractors
• On Brief on Budget and on-time delivery
• Managing self-responsibility concerning time and attendance and quality

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review client proposals in terms of electrical engineering and design
• Design electrical distribution systems mainly for low voltage, limited medium voltage required
• Design electrical schematics and connection diagrams
• Provide technical input for basic and detail design
• Evaluate vendor proposals for clarification
• Electrical equipment FAT and SAT with commission exposure or experience
• Assist in planning and reviewing of technical work and maintaining project schedules
• As-build drawing redlines of existing electrical systems
• Good understanding of standards to evaluate quality of installed electrical systems
• Perform point to point wiring and functional checks on LV and MV equipment
• Assist with commissioning support for new electrical systems
• Work closely with other Discipline Managers/Project Managers/ Engineering Managers and aspire to support and achieve goals of the Company
