Reporting to the Group Executive: Trade, Investment and Regulatory Enablement, the Senior Manager: Investment Facilitation will lead proactive investor targeting, investment lead generation and the development of strategies that translate investment opportunities into tangible projects. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, the ability to build influential stakeholder relationships, and a track record of managing initiatives within a complex economic development environment. The successful candidate will identify new investment opportunities, develop sector-specific strategies, package business opportunities for promotion, and strengthen partnerships with investors, government institutions, financial organisations, chambers of commerce and organised business formations. The role also involves representing the organisation at industry events, participating in international investment missions, and contributing to investment and job creation targets. The position is based within a public-sector economic development agency mandated to facilitate sustainable economic growth, strengthen Gauteng's competitiveness and support industrial development. The organisation works across key sectors through business enablement, capital project facilitation, land development, and trade and investment promotion. What You'll Do - Conceptualise and implement proactive investment lead-generation strategies and investor-targeting plans. - Identify local and international source markets, prospective investors and companies seeking new investment locations. - Develop and promote existing and projected business and investment opportunities. - Establish and manage investment lead evaluation, monitoring and control processes. - Build and maintain strategic relationships with investors, government agencies, financial institutions, chambers of commerce and other relevant stakeholders. - Develop cooperation agreements and partnerships that facilitate engagement with prospective investors. - Design and implement sector strategies aligned with the organisation's economic development mandate. - Plan and coordinate investment promotion activities, industry engagements, joint events and international outward missions. - Represent the organisation at relevant industry forums and promote Gauteng as an investment destination. - Work with national and local government partners to strengthen the investment climate and improve the ease of doing business. - Develop stakeholder communication strategies and oversee engagement between the organisation, business community and public. - Establish effective operational coordination, internal controls and management information processes within the business unit. - Ensure the effective, efficient, economical and transparent use of financial and other resources. - Develop and monitor implementation plans that convert identified investment opportunities into concrete projects. - Contribute to organisational targets relating to investment attraction, economic development and sustainable job creation. What You Bring - A postgraduate degree or NQF Level 8 qualification in commerce, investments or an enterprise-related discipline. - At least five years of management experience in a commerce, investment or enterprise-related environment. - Sound knowledge of the business environment, relevant stakeholders and their respective responsibilities. - An understanding of the foreign and local economic development environment. - Knowledge of relevant legislation and governance requirements applicable to the organisation, industry and country. - The ability to define, scope, plan and execute projects using established project management methodologies. - Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels. - Strategic thinking, commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop viable investment opportunities. - Strong stakeholder relationship management, coordination and planning capabilities. - The ability to manage resources responsibly while maintaining appropriate operational controls and accountability. Employment Details Employment type: Five-year fixed-term contract, with three months' probation. Job grading: Paterson Grade D5.
