Senior Plant Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the manufacturing and production sector, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Plant Operations Manager to oversee operations at their facility in Rustenburg, North West, ZA. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective operation of the plant, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, a proven track record in operational leadership, and the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team. This hybrid role offers a blend of on-site leadership and strategic remote planning, ensuring optimal workflow and decision-making processes within the Rustenburg plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic operational plans to achieve production targets and company objectives.
• Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and logistics.
• Manage and mentor a team of supervisors and production staff, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
• Manage the plant budget, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Collaborate with other departments, including supply chain, engineering, and sales, to ensure seamless operations.
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to enhance operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale production facilities.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001), and safety standards.
• Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and manage change effectively.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and other relevant manufacturing software.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
