Restaurant General Manager - Alberton

Overview

We are actively searching for a senior General Manager for a new chic, exclusive upmarket restaurant in Alberton. The perfect candidate will have a minimum of 10 years in restaurant management, including at least 5 years in a General Manager capacity. Strong operational management expertise is required, as the successful applicant will be responsible for the entire restaurant operation. Candidates must present themselves professionally and possess outstanding communication skills. We are looking for a diligent team leader who thrives in high-pressure situations, with experience in a busy high-end restaurant being a must.

Proficiency in staff management and training, stock control, restaurant administration, and opening and closing procedures is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with a long tenure at previous jobs, and all references must be reachable. The successful candidate should be energetic, passionate, and motivated to achieve success, with excellent customer relations skills and a hands-on management style. The salary for this position is between R 24,000 and R 28 000 K net. Be sure to quote reference RA147 when applying.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire restaurant operation, including front-of-house, back-of-house, and administration.
• Lead, train, and supervise staff; foster a positive team culture.
• Maintain service quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
• Implement and manage cost control procedures, including stock control and supplier relations.
• Coordinate staff scheduling, payroll input, and performance management.
• Handle customer relations and address escalated concerns or complaints.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Report on financial performance and operational metrics to ownership / management.
• Maintain professional presentation and effective communication with guests and staff.
