Primary purpose
To perform the role of Manager : Minerals Processing within the division. The responsibilities and authorities of the Manager in the Minerals Processing division relate to managerial, technical and key support personnel requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all activities of staff and liaise with relevant Departments (Comminution, Flotation, Gold and BIOX).
- Oversee day-to-day technical coordination and operation of the division.
- Data processing / control, reporting of testwork according to company guidelines; produce progressive or final reports with minimal input from the line manager.
- Plan and structure tasks over periods from 1 week to 3 months; create the context for objectives to be achieved.
- Monitor consumable levels and expenses in conjunction with the divisional manager.
- Evaluate results and interpret data produced; provide coaching and instruction on how work should be performed.
- Manage, train and direct subordinates in quality, testwork methodology, safety and time management.
- Meet company targets regarding turnover and local costs; oversee weekend test-work if required.
- Assist with planning, set-up, commissioning and operation of Minerals Processing testwork.
- Format, edit and set up forms to record laboratory test work results and data.
- Ensure effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities with good housekeeping.
- Resource planning and testwork scheduling for the division; assist the Met - Min Manager as required.
- Adhere to quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Support management with development, utilization and supervision of human resources, including training, recruitment and discipline.
- Assist with results evaluation and troubleshooting; provide input for CAPEX requirements; coordinate the division\'s project execution; assist with achieving project TAT.
- Maintain client relationships; perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the line manager; act on behalf of the division when required.
Authorities
Production; quality management system; health and safety.Cease use of equipment or halt work if safety or quality concerns arise and report to higher authority.Initiate formal improvement requests for deviations, possible improvements or nonconformity.Right to refuse work that may damage the environment and report such situations.Qualifications
Education
BSc and / or MSc in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.Experience
Minimum 7 to 10 years in the relevant field.Excellent people and communication skills; ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.Proven ability to drive projects to completion within specified timelines; strong time management.Organized, neat work habits; strong work ethic; hands-on accountability for projects.Note
