A dynamic and well-established property portfolio is seeking a skilled Accountant to join its Finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, collaboration, and strategic thinking are key.
Role Purpose
You will be responsible for executing a wide range of financial functions including :
- Reviewing financial information
- Performing accounting tasks
- Preparing budgets
- Attending portfolio management meetings
- Supporting the Finance Manager with various financial operations
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
BCom Financial degree with a major in accounting (required)Completed Articles at an Audit or Accounting Firm (SAICA or SAIPA – required)Proven experience in :Management accounting (budgeting, forecasting, monthly accounts)Property and investment accounting (advantageous)Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of IFRS and IFRS for SMMEsProficiency in :Budgeting, forecasting, accruals, prepaymentsDrafting financial statements (Draftworx / Caseware preferred)Company tax, provisional tax, VAT (advantageous)MS Office :Excel (Advanced)Outlook and Teams (Basic)Basic knowledge of MDA (preferred)Key Responsibilities
Budgeting & ForecastingCompile complete budgets in consultation with Leasing, Repairs and Maintenance, and other departmentsAnalyze and format budgets for upload and reviewUpdate monthly budget forecastsAccounting & ReportingProcess journal entries and compile monthly management packsPerform month and year-end procedures (accruals, depreciation, provisions)Reconcile general ledger accountsPrepare VAT apportionment journalsPresent stakeholder packs and attend portfolio meetingsYear-End & Audit PreparationDraft and review financial statementsAssist with property valuations and tax calculationsPrepare audit working papers and respond to auditor queriesTax & VAT ComplianceComplete and submit provisional and final tax returnsRespond to SARS queriesPrepare and review monthly VAT returnsTeam CollaborationProvide ad hoc financial support to internal stakeholdersPersonal Attributes
