Auto Body Repair Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Assessment and Planning : Evaluating vehicle damage and determining the best repair methods, including estimating time and cost.
• Disassembly and Preparation : Removing damaged parts, body hardware, and interior trim to access the affected areas.
• Panel Repair : Straightening metal body panels using hammers, hydraulic equipment, and other tools to remove dents and damage.
• Parts Replacement : Replacing severely damaged or rusted panels with new or second-hand ones.
• Bodywork Finishing : Applying plastic fillers, then sanding and filing the repaired surfaces to create a smooth finish, ready for painting.
• Assembly and Refitting : Reinstalling repaired or replacement panels, along with body hardware, locks, and trim.
• Painting (sometimes) : Preparing surfaces and potentially spraying panels with paint to match the vehicle's original color.
