Job descriptionGrade 12 Valid driver’s license Medical Fitness Meet Dover Classification Ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment. Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures. At least 1 to 2 years of experience in operating heavy equipment, especially compactors Have an understanding of the workings of the equipment, complying with safety regulations, and troubleshooting minor mechanical issues Experience with heavy equipment operation Proven experience as a compactor operator or similar role Operating the compactor machinery and ensuring its proper functioning Maintaining and repairing compactor equipment as needed Inspecting work sites to determine the types and amounts of materials to be compacted Moving and manipulating raw materials using heavy machinery Adhering to safety and environmental regulations Performing routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on compactor equipment Monitoring the process of compacting to avoid machine malfunctions The ideal candidate should have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and extensive experience in operating heavy machinery Reporting any major malfunctions or repair needs to the supervisor Keeping records of materials compacted Working in coordination with other equipment operators on the site The Compactor Operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, specifically a compactor, to compress and smooth various materials such as soil, gravel, or asphalt.
