The Accounting Specialist - GL Support provides critical support across the company's daily accounting operations, with a focus on timely reconciliations, accurate transaction posting, and consistent support across AP, AR, and the monthly close. This role is designed for a reliable, detail-oriented accounting professional looking to contribute to a fast-paced, high-growth CPG environment, while playing a key role in improving close timelines, increasing financial accuracy, and enhancing real-time reporting visibility. The accounting specialist - GL support position has a strong foundation in accounting principles, experience with transactional workflows, and a proactive mindset for process improvement and team collaboration.
Main Responsibilities
- Own daily and weekly bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring timely posting and organization of all supporting documentation.
- Proactively follow up on missing receipts and credit card backup to ensure complete and audit-ready records.
- Prepare standard journal entries such as credit card accruals and prepaid amortization.
- Maintain accrual schedules and assist with balance sheet reconciliations during month-end close.
- Support the month-end close process by gathering backup, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring clean and timely posting of entries.
- Provide overflow support to AP and AR functions as needed.
- Match and reconcile daily sales deposits from various channels to ensure accurate recording and alignment between payment processors and accounting systems.
- Prepare and distribute daily expense reports by department to leadership, helping drive real-time visibility and faster financial decision-making.
- Assist with audit preparation and internal documentation upkeep, supporting GAAP compliance and internal controls.
Candidate Requirements :
Pursuing or completed a degree in accounting, finance, or related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.1+ years of accounting experience, including reconciliations and journal entry preparation.Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and comfortable working with multiple systems.Understanding of GAAP principles including accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliation.Demonstrated ability to handle high volumes of data with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking skills-able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative and solution-oriented mindset.Bonus : experience in CPG, inventory-accounting exposure, or accounting systems.#J-18808-Ljbffr
