Role Overview
A national fuel and retail organisation with over 4,200 employees is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead its people strategy. This role requires a strong HR leader with extensive labour relations and transformation expertise, capable of aligning HR with business growth while driving cultural change, performance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Design and implement a national HR strategy aligned with growth and transformation goals.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the MD and Exco on people and culture.
- Lead organisational design and change management to support business expansion.
Talent Management & Workforce Planning
Oversee national recruitment and selection processes.Drive succession planning, leadership development, and learnerships in collaboration with Training & Development.Develop and implement employee wellness and retention strategies.Employee & Industrial Relations
Ensure compliance with labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EE, SDA).Manage unions, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution.Promote a workplace culture of fairness, transparency, and performance.Performance & Reward
Manage performance management systems across the group.Oversee remuneration, incentives, and employee benefits strategies.Ensure payroll compliance and integration with HR operations.HR Operations & Compliance
Implement efficient HR Information Systems (HRIS) and reporting structures.Ensure compliance with Employment Equity and B-BBEE requirements.Draft, update, and enforce HR policies in line with organisational needs.Culture, Transformation & Diversity
Drive B-BBEE and Employment Equity initiatives to meet transformation targets.Champion a culture of empowerment, service excellence, and innovation.Enhance internal communication to strengthen employee engagement.POSITION INFO
Role Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or related field (postgraduate advantageous).10–15 years experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role within the fuel / retail / QSR sector (non-negotiable).Proven ability to manage HR across a workforce of 4,000+ employees.Strong expertise in labour relations, B-BBEE, and Employment Equity.ERP / HRIS systems experience and advanced HR reporting capability.Advantageous : experience in petroleum or convenience retail.Key Competencies & Skills
