Our client is looking for a hands-on AI Principal Engineer - Product Innovation to lead the technical integration of intelligent capabilities, re-engineering a global ERP company’s legacy system. This role is remote from the UK, South Africa, or Europe, and is full-time with a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits.

What You Will Do

Develop and deploy AI / ML models across engineering and operational workflows
Prototype solutions using LLMs, RAG, NLP, and multimodal AI
Build and maintain scalable MLOps pipelines (Azure ML, Kubeflow, Terraform)
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
Ensure model performance, reliability, and integration into ERP systems
Mentor junior engineers and data scientists in best practices and emerging techniques

What You Bring

5+ years in AI, ML, or Data Science roles

Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and optionally C#

Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and MLOps tools

Hands-on expertise in generative AI, LLMs, RAG, NLP, and deep learning

Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing workflows

Certifications in Azure AI, AWS ML, or equivalent

A detail-oriented mindset, collaborative approach, and passion for technical excellence

Checklist

Experience : 5+ years in AI / ML / Data Science roles.

Bonus : Experience in ERP or manufacturing SaaS environments.

Technical Stack : Python, SQL, C# (optional but useful).

Cloud platforms : Azure, AWS

MLOps tools : Kubeflow, MLflow, Terraform

AI Specialization : Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), NLP, Deep Learning, Multimodal AI

ERP & Manufacturing Knowledge : Familiarity with discrete manufacturing workflows and ERP integration points

Engineering Delivery : Prototyping, deployment, and maintenance of AI solutions; production integration

Team Mentorship : Guiding junior engineers and data scientists; promoting best practices

Education : Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering. PhD is a plus but not required

Certifications : Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML, Udacity Nanodegrees, or equivalent

Soft Skills : Detail-oriented, collaborative, technically curious; strong communicator with pragmatic mindset
